Mental health has a stigma attached to it. People often feel that if someone has a psychological disturbance, he is permanently doomed. People also frown at psychiatric diagnosis. But the reality can't just be wished away. Just like our physical health, our mental health is also immensely important. Just like we can have have physical disorders for which we take adequate medical treatment, all of us can have a mental disorder which can require treatment. Our mind is a part of our brain. So changes in our brain can affect how we think, how we feel and how we behave. So just like we all can have illnesses related to other body parts, we can have illnesses of brain. Abnormal changes in the brain can have neurological symptoms. Hardly anyone would have any problem accepting this. But abnormalities in brain biology can also have psychological symptoms. There is ample research which proves this. So we provide Anxiety treatment in Mumbai. We have a psychiatrist in Powai. Accepting this doesn't mean we lose our all 'human'ness. It doesn't mean that we are just sophisticated machines. It doesn't mean we don't have ANY control over our thoughts. It in fact gives a more mature way of looking at our minds. It humbles us as we accept that we can get negative thoughts, we can behave angrily sometimes, we can get anxious or feel depressed. All these things don't mean that we are weak. We try to learn ways to deal with our problems, we seek help from mental health professionals instead of suffering alone in silence. Our attitude towards others who have psychological disturbances also changes. We become empathetic and supportive towards them. All this can happen when we start talking about mental health. By talking about mental health, we can dispel myths related to mental health, we can help people who need help and we becomes a more peaceful and happy individuals, family and society. So let's start talking about mental health and make world a better place.
